This blog is a tribute to to womyn of color around the world.
This blog is an acknowledgment of the continual marginalization us as womyn of color still feel throughout our daily lives, despite theories of post-racism and equality for all.
This blog is a declaration that our tribulations are not made up. They are not in our heads but lies within the problems of our society.
This blog is an attempt to uncover the silence of millions of womyn of color throughout the nation who want COMMUNITY yet go without it- for whatever reason that may be.

Here is our chance to build one.

Our blog has a vision to be a space of creative writing/artwork/expression for womyn of color around the country. It is in particular for womyn who may not be in the academic world now, or surrounded by folks that can put a name to the marginalization one feels but nevertheless want to express themselves.
You don’t have to be an artist, a writer, or a professional. You can just have something to say and submit it. We will review the posts every week and get back to you with our ideas on your piece and either post it or hold it for another week. No one's post will be rejected.

This is a project to give a name to the unnamed experience womyn of color nation wide. Occasionally we will have topics to post under- but don’t feel constrained by it- we simply want to hear from YOU.

Upcoming Opportunities in Seattle

in the next few weeks there will be a couple incredible opportunities for any of you living in seattle.

on wednesday, may 2, chimamanda ngozi agichie will be delivering a lecture at benaroya hall. adichie is a nigerian author known for books such as purple hibiscus, half of a yellow sun,and the thing around your neck. she also gave a wonderful tedtalk on “the danger of the single story”. tickets for the event can be purchased here.

the 9th annual seattle race conference will take place in seattle university on saturday, may 12. the theme on this year’s conference is “building community to end environmental racism: learn, connect, flourish”. workshops will be hosted by different local organizations such as the coalition of anti-racist whites, the duwamish river cleanup coalition, and the new wilderness project. you can learn more and register here.
